Hotel Rooms

We have succcessfully lined up a block of rooms for people who can come to the wedding and who desire to stay in the same location. The hotel we've chosen is the Holiday Inn Express - Sunset Valley location - here in Austin.

The hotel is about midway between the airport and the wedding venue (Star Hill Ranch). Both the airport, the hotel and Star Hill Ranch are all on Highway 71 (though the hotel's address is technically highway 290 -- at that point, 71 & 290 are the same thing).

Rooms with 1 king-size bed are blocked at $70/night and those with 2 queen-size beds at $80/night. There may also be rooms with a king and a sleeper sofa; call the hotel to inquire.

Matt & I toured the facility and it seemed nice, and we felt our out-of-town guests would be comfortable there. It is a new facility, nicely decorated with quiet hallways and good-sized rooms. Rooms are equipped with coffee makers, ironing boards & irons, hair dryers, etc. Some had a microwave, mini-fridge and sink. It is easy access off the highway. They serve complimentary breakfast. When I do the maps, I'll also include info to a few nearby restaurants (including some of our personal favorites).

You can contact the hotel directly at 512-891-9500 and ask for the White-Laswell wedding block for Friday, October 7th. It will be held through mid-September. Quick hotel note

I'm this close [picutre me holding my thumb and finger about 1/8" apart] to having the block of rooms for the wedding reserved. I'll be finalizing it on Wednesday, at the chosen hotel. Post-Surgery Update

Some of you know that I had nasal surgery last Thursday. Now that I'm able to sit up at the computer, I wanted to post that it went well. They fixed some broken bits in my nose and I'm now recovering. Recovery is the worst part, I think -- surgery was all under anesthesia so I didn't feel a thing. But, afterwards, I've been really tired, dizzy, and it feels like I repeatedly have a load of bricks dropped onto my nose. But, it's getting better day by day. I should be returning to activity over the next few days and weeks. My coworkers, loads of friends from church, and of course Matt have been over a lot to help take care of me - plus phone calls from people out of town. They've seen me at my worst -- rambling on illogically, unable to do much for myself, covered in bandages -- but they've all been so nice & caring. It really means a lot.

We also got our first wedding presents delivered this week! We haven't opened them yet, but it's been fun to look over, while in pain after surgery, to see gift-bags with hearts and brides and stuff on them. :) We're past the three-months-to-go mark, and there's a lot still to be done. I'm glad we've got the surgery out of the way, now.

OK, I need to lie down again -- but I thought y'all would like to know how it's coming. :)
