Progressing with planning & normal life

Here's a general update of some of the big items we've taken care of for wedding prep:
  • We're very close to having a contract signed on our desired location. That's a big one to have done!
  • I have a dress ordered. I would tell you what it looks like, but then, as they say, I'd have to kill you. :) Seriously, it's a white wedding dress, and I won't write more here, not to ruin the surprise for anyone who wants it. My mom came to town for that decision.
  • We've chosen attendants. Not like I've had time to do anything with mine, but we'll get there eventually... I think our next task with attendants is to consider dresses, and only after that will we choose colors.
  • We've chosen a pastor to perform our ceremony (one of my coworkers, naturally)
  • And we have ideas for quite a few other things; we'll keep you posted.

Matt and I both remain busy with work. I have today off, as comp time from working all last weekend, and generally way too much over the past few weeks. I'm going to enjoy my day off by going to the gym, maybe seeing a movie, then doing laundry and perhaps quilting. Matt's taking a few days off next week, well-deserved, also, after his hard work without a break over the past few months.

We've taken in a few baseball games lately (we share season tickets to the Round Rock Express AAA club with a bunch of friends, so we go to about two games a month). And, I think Matt's softball team won the championship for the Spring season.

I guess that's about all from here -- life and wedding planning will both continue, and we'll let you know any big advances.

RSS Feed

The RSS feed is up & running. Find the link in the side bar, or go here: http://www.mattbecky.com/blog/atom.xml

RSS is "Really Simple Syndication" -- basically, it's a way to stay up to date with content on various web sites, especially blogs. I have lots of RSS feeds built into My Yahoo! page (http://my.yahoo.com would be your page if you login to yahoo and set it up), but you can also read RSS feeds through many other sites and software packages. I use RSS feeds it to keep up on several blogs, and also for new articles at some online magazines. I can easily tell when there's new content on a site by just looking at My Yahoo! page, without having to visit the site itself.

Now, you can use it to keep up with this blog via RSS, too.

(In case you find it interesting, my Yahoo! page includes RSS feeds for various news agencies, the Onion, urban legends at Snopes.com, TV listings, articles on the Ooze, and the blogs for various writers/thinkers in the emerging church arena.)
